Playing Online Poker at Night

After you figure out what online poker room to play, the best times to play are very important to win at poker. There is always a table waiting for you at any given time on Party Poker, Pacific Poker, or Poker Stars. But there are consistently more profitable times and even days that lead to more online poker success.

A few key days in the week have an increased number of players combined with a lower level of ability. The WSOP on ESPN every Tuesday allows any novice player to watch some of the pros battle in tournament play. Thus newbies get an itch to play some poker after watching, and the tables seem to flood with loose, uneducated online players. This also applies to the World Poker Tour on Wednesday night. Of course, the bread and butter days are still the weekend play.

On Friday and Saturday the tables are loaded with loose, drunk players and people clicking purely for entertainment, gladly giving you their roll of twenty or two hundred dollars. Now you know the days, so what time should you hit up the tables?

My theory used to be play whenever I felt like it. But in fact, I have seen on a consistent basis that the most profitable period is from 9pm to 4am EST. Both U.S. coasts are home from their day jobs, dreaming of hitting their lucky cards so they can quit working in a cubicle. The tables are filled with maniacs, calling stations, and chasers – an ideal field for making the solid player a healthy profit.
